Staff praised for caring attitude

Tollgate Clinic has received an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ in the most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The long-established Essex clinic, which has its base at the Tollgate Health Centre in Colchester, is celebrating after receiving very positive feedback from its latest CQC inspection – carried out in August.

All aspects of care have been rated as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ across each of the five CQC domains (‘safe’, ‘effective’, ‘caring’, ‘responsive’ and ‘well-led’) – earning the organisation an overall CQC rating of ‘outstanding’.

The CQC report commends the care provided by the clinic, the treatment of patients and leadership as well as the learning culture that exists at the clinic to deliver best possible outcomes for patients.

Staff were praised for treating people with genuine compassion, dignity and respect.

In her report Dr Rosie Benneyworth, Chief Inspector of Primary Medical Services and Integrated Care, states:

“Patient feedback that we received on comment cards was extremely and consistently positive. Many of them told us the care and treatment provided by the staff exceeded their expectations and that they went the extra mile to ensure patients received excellent care.

“Patient feedback was clear, they were active partners and fully involved in decisions about their care and treatment.”

The CQC inspector also recognised the outstanding way in which the Tollgate Clinic tailors services to meet the needs of its patients, and for ensuring ‘flexibility, and patient centred involved choices in their care and treatment.’

Paul Cooke, Managing Director, said: “We are happy to report that the CQC found that the Tollgate Clinic’s services to be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led and that our staff are dedicated to achieving the best they can for all who use our services.Caroline Brock, General Manager, added: “We welcome the CQC’s rigorous inspection process as it provides an external assessment of the quality of our services.

“I’d like to congratulate all of the incredible staff at the Tollgate Clinic for all of their hard work and dedication that has enabled us to achieve such positive feedback and ratings across all five CQC criteria.”
