Governors from Provide Community recently paid a special visit to Support 4 Sight to present a cheque of £5,000 to its volunteers.

After reaching out to more than 1,000 of its colleagues to nominate local causes they felt deserved additional funding, Support 4 Sight was chosen to receive a donation which will go towards supporting a programme of social activities and outings.

The charity was initially put forward by Provide Community’s Finance Business Partner, Joanna Dunne, who commented; “I nominated Support 4 Sight as they have been helping my aunt. She has been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration and has been slowly losing her sight over the past few years. Support 4 Sight have been helping to maintain her independence as much as possible and have provided her with lots of information, support and home visits.”

Clair Banks, a representative from Provide’s Council of Governors, was sent to present the cheque to the charity and see first-hand some of the fantastic work that it volunteers carry out to support the local community.

When asked about her visit, Clair said; “It was an absolute pleasure to meet Sharon and the service users of Support 4 Sight and present them with the £5,000 cheque. It was great to hear about the work they do and how it improves the lives of blind and partially sighted people in the community.”

Chief Executive Officer of Support 4 Sight, Sharon Schaffer, said; “The donation will support the programme of activities and outings we have put in place to meet this need, enabling our members to get together both face-to-face and online, share new experiences and provide vital peer support.”
