The Chair of Provide Community Governors, Nicola Yarnall, recently paid a visit to The Lighthouse Furniture Project, to deliver a cheque for £5,000.

Based in Brentwood, the charity supports families and individuals who are in need of basic furniture, appliances, and all-white goods, which the charity acquires through donations from the public. Set up over ten years ago, the charity operates as a social enterprise and has grown significantly thanks to charitable and public donations.

The charity was nominated by Katherine Farrow, Speech and Language Therapist at Provide Community who spoke about why she nominated the charity: “I nominated the Lighthouse Furniture Project because of the fantastic work they do within the community. Their ability to meet the need as they support a whole range of people is inspiring.

“They ensure new and reused furniture and appliances are affordable and thus help to build and create homes across the district. They very much share Provide’s ethos with their focus on creating social value.”

The £5,000 donated by Provide Community will support the general maintenance of the charity and support the staff who work repairing and testing household and electrical items.

Chief Executive Officer Peter Everett said, “Provide Community’s generous donation of £5,000 allowed us to donate furniture and electrical items to those in need, free of charge.

“Last year we donated £15,000 worth of furniture and electrical goods to people in need of support including victims fleeing domestic abuse. The money from Provide Community allowed us to continue supporting these individuals without it hitting our core costs.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Provide on behalf of everyone at The Lighthouse Furniture Project, because of this donation we’ve been fortunate enough to serve our communities and deliver essential items to those in need.”
