Provide Community is thrilled to announce that recently, representatives from its Council of Governors paid a visit to Beacon House, a homeless charity based in Colchester.

As a social enterprise, Provide Community reached out to its members to ask for nominations for local charities that they felt would benefit from extra funding.

Several Governors visited the organisation’s headquarters on Crouch Street in the town centre to hand over a cheque for £5,000. Nominated by Communications Officer Jennie Bateman, Beacon House is putting the donation towards delivering primary healthcare services to people who are homeless, in insecure accommodation or at risk of homelessness. To help support these individuals, its site offers a range of services including showering facilities, laundry, clothing, and toiletries.

Beacon House representative, Michelle Wilkinson, said; “Beacon House is excited and thrilled to receive this cheque; it will enable us to continue striving to improve the health services for the homeless in Essex.”

The donation made to Beacon House is part of the grant-giving initiative that sees local charities and organisations receive donations of up to £5,000.

Lindsay Partner, Primary Care and Pharmacy Liaison at Provide said, “Beacon House is such a valuable service. It’s an amazing unit, Michelle has worked here for over 20 years and has such a fantastic relationship with all service users and offers an essential health care service.”
